Case studies

Projects where we connected, secured and supported client sites, many of them far from any fixed network.

Since 2017 our engineers have delivered connectivity, security and infrastructure for the UN, international NGOs, mining, banking and telecom clients across Liberia, Sierra Leone, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea and Guinea-Bissau. Some of those projects are described below.

Agriculture

Liberian Agricultural Company (LAC)

Sinkor, Monrovia · Liberia

Challenge

The LAC office in Monrovia needed a Starlink link behind a firewall, with the dish on a ground mast rather than on the roof.

What we did

  • Set a galvanised mast in a block foundation and mounted a Starlink Performance (Gen3) dish
  • Installed a FortiGate 70G firewall and commissioned the link (August 2026)

Outcome

The link was online at commissioning and passed its hardware self-test.

Humanitarian / UN

World Food Programme (WFP)

Multiple field sites · Liberia

Challenge

WFP field offices needed a data link at remote sites where terrestrial internet was either missing or unreliable, so that logistics and reporting systems stayed online.

What we did

  • Installed, serviced, repaired and later de-installed VSAT links at five documented WFP sites in four counties
  • Installed and aligned terminals, configured routing and site networks

Outcome

The sites had working satellite links for humanitarian work, well beyond the reach of fixed lines.

Mining

Challenge

The company needed satellite connectivity for its mining operations in Côte d'Ivoire.

What we did

  • Installed a 1.2m Ku-band VSAT terminal at the Koné deposit site (November 2019)

Outcome

The operations have a VSAT link installed and configured by our engineers.

NGO / INGO

Save the Children and Samaritan's Purse

Fish Town & Monrovia · Liberia

Challenge

Both NGOs needed reliable internet for programme offices in places with little local infrastructure.

What we did

  • Installed a VSAT link at Fish Town (2024) and migrated the VSAT link at the Samaritan's Purse office in Monrovia (2022)

Outcome

Both programme sites have 2.4m C-Band VSAT links installed or migrated by our engineers.

Telecom / infrastructure

ACE submarine cable and Spectrum Communication Services

Monrovia, Liberia & Freetown, Sierra Leone

Challenge

Our telecom and ISP clients needed field engineers to support infrastructure linked to the submarine cable and the last-mile networks beyond it.

What we did

  • Installed 2.4m C-Band VSAT links at the ACE cable stations in Freetown (January 2023) and Monrovia (May 2023)
  • Set up a wireless ISP network for Spectrum in Sinkor, Monrovia (October 2021)
  • Worked alongside carrier and ISP teams on delivery

Outcome

We have delivered telecom and ISP connectivity work for these clients in both countries.

Multilateral

The World Bank Group

Congo Town, Monrovia · Liberia

Challenge

The World Bank Group office in Congo Town uses a 3.8m C-Band VSAT terminal that needs regular preventive maintenance.

What we did

  • Carried out preventive maintenance on the antenna, Newtec modem and C-Band BUC in 2022, 2023 and 2024
  • Replaced the damaged 40W BUC with a 20W BUC and fitted new cable connectors (November 2024)

Outcome

Three maintenance visits are documented: October 2022, September 2023 and November 2024.

The VSAT links at Plan International field offices in three counties needed to be migrated.

What we did

  • Migrated the VSAT links at the Bomi County, Voinjama and Ganta field offices
  • Completed the work in 2022, 2023 and 2024
