The challenge

The World Bank Group's Congo Town office in Monrovia uses a 3.8m C-Band VSAT terminal. The office needed regular preventive maintenance on the terminal and its supporting equipment.

What we did

  • Carried out preventive maintenance on the 3.8m Prodelin C-Band antenna, the Newtec modem and the 40W C-Band BUC on 5 October 2022.
  • Returned between 8 and 27 September 2023 for the next preventive maintenance visit, which included cleaning the feed.
  • In November 2024 (visits between 8 and 19 November), washed the dish, re-greased the bolts and the azimuth and elevation rods, replaced the damaged 40W BUC with a 20W BUC and fitted new connectors on the transmit and receive cables.

Every visit followed the same documented checklist: an inventory of all equipment, a horizon profile of the site, modem readings and spectrum-analyser plots on arrival and again on departure, a photo record of the terminal, clearance from the network operations centre (NOC) before leaving site, and written acceptance by the office's IT staff.

The result

Three preventive maintenance visits are documented, in October 2022, September 2023 and November 2024.
